A recent soccer game was a good excuse for all the PC Volunteers in my province to get together for a weekend. About 18 of us converged on the town of Polokwane where there is a huge, beautiful stadium for such an event (built to support some of the matches held in 2010 when South Africa was hosting the Fifa World Cup).

The game we attended was between the Black Lions (South African) and Motor Action (Zimbabwean). Soccer is huge in SA but as neither of these teams are particularly popular, attendance was extremely low. That meant that we could sit just about anywhere, so of course we and everyone else chose the shady side. Low attendance also meant fewer vuvuzelas (these are long, skinny horns that make a very obnoxious sound) which gained international attention during the World Cup series in 2010. Fewer vuvuzelas = a good thing.
