There’s not much traffic in or out of the schoolyard, so when I hear a truck pull up outside, I typically go look. Most often it’s a truck delivering food for school lunches or fruit for afternoon snacks. Today’s visitor was the “basket man.”
There is an organization not terribly far away which hires blind and partially-blind adults to weave basket type items. A couple of times each year, someone from the place drives a truck full of these woven products to sell to teachers around the area. Within a few minutes of the basket-man arriving today, almost every teacher had left her class to do a little shopping. I guess it was a win-win for everyone … except for all the students who missed at least 30 minutes of class time.
